If our firm has been hired by a client, the general assumption is that the client has financial resources and the ability to seek legal representation. Unfortunately, not everyone in our community has the financial ability or knowledge of how to find help. Therefore, it is always important (almost critical) for those of us who are more fortunate than others to lend help to those in need in any way possible.
On February 8, 2014, I volunteered my time helping the team at Refugee Services of Texas, partnered with the Ride for Refuge, which is a charity bike ride event organized to raise money for refugees, asylees, and survivors of human trafficking most in need. My time and financial contribution will directly affect the lives of displaced people in Austin. As Austinites, we pride ourselves in the beauty and richness of our community, which doesn’t happen without the generosity of our community members.
So, whether it’s a monetary donation or simply helping cyclists with their equipment and directing traffic, it’s all “giving back” to the community and those efforts will always be appreciated.
